In 2007, the Barrett made its debut as a counting event on both the R&A’s World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and Golfweek’s Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings (SPWAR).

The tournament finds itself among the best amateur championships in the world including the British Amateur, the US Amateur, the NCAA National Championship, the Western Amateur and the Canadian Amateur.
