Takes Lead at Barrett Amateur |

The third round of the 2009 Barrett
Amateur Championship began Friday morning without any
delays. Mild fog did not affect the early morning draw.
Jordan Sherratt of Morphett Vale, South Australia was
one of two players who fired low rounds of the day,
-2 (69) to jump on top of the leaderboard. Sherrat made
one birdie on the front nine (35), followed by one bogey
and two more birdies on the back (34). Sherrat’s
two day total of -6 (207) is 2 shots better than last
year’s champion, Dylan Frittelli of South Africa.
Frittelli, made one bogey & one
birdie on both the front & back nine to finish the
day at even par. Frittelli now sits 2 shots off the
lead going into the final round of play at -4 (209).
Yesterday’s leader, JG Classen also from South
Africa, is 3 shots of the pace after finishing round
3 with a 73. Classen’s 54 hole score of -3 (210)
will see him fight for the championship in the final
pairing starting at 9:48am.
Corey Conners of Listowel, ON was
the second player to fire the low round of the day of
-2 (69). Conners made 2 birdies and 3 bogeys on the
front. On the back nine, Conners picked up the pace
and made 3 birdies to finish with a 54 hole score of
-2 (211). The top New Brunswicker after 3 rounds is
Mathieu Gingras of Moncton, NB. Gingras, the 2009 NB
Men’s Amateur Champion, is currently tied for
9th spot at +2 (215).
The fourth & final round of play
is scheduled for 8am Saturday morning. A complete list

The 72-hole Barrett Amateur Championship is the highest
ranked Canadian event on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The Barrett is also a counting event for Golf Week’s
Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings.
